Estate Originals 14K Yellow Gold Ammolite Brooch/Pendant

This bold and captivating piece showcases the natural beauty of a large freeform ammolite, a gemstone renowned for its vibrant, iridescent play of colours. Set in 14K yellow gold, the design, both a brooch as well as a pendant, highlights the gem's organic shape and radiant hues, ranging from fiery reds and oranges to tranquil blues and greens. The contrasting tones provide a kaleidoscopic charm that few gemstones have. A 23-inch 14K yellow gold fine chain with a spring ring clasp is also included.

Mined in Canada, Ammolite is one of the world's few biogenic gemstones, made of the fossilized nacre of ancient ammonites. It displays an opal-like iridescence and was recognized as an official gemstone by the World Jewellery Confederation in 1981. Ammolite was also designated as the official gemstone of Alberta in 2022. This unique gemstone has a wide range of colours (varying from reds and greens to blues and violets), and its iridescence is caused by the interference of lightwaves on the layers of aragonite. The patterns can also range from solid colours to intricate designs resembling flames, watercolour paintings, or even stained glass.
