Estate Originals 14K Yellow Gold Antique Pearl Ring with Cushion Shaped Rubies and Rose Cut Diamonds
This fancy Victorian Era antique ring is crafted in 14K yellow gold and features a cultured pearl at its centre. A row of six rubies run in a linear pattern and are split three and three on each side of the middle pearl. The entire perimeter is outlined with twenty-two rose cut diamonds that follow the shape created by the pearl and rubies. The band splits at the top to reveal a double leaf design which is further set with four rose cut diamonds, per side. The diamonds combine for 0.47 carats.
Rose cut diamonds first appeared in the 1500's but their height of popularity was from the 1700 thru to the 1800's. The most notable features of a rose cut diamond are their flat backs and domed tops covered in triangular facets. The number of these facets can vary from as few as three up to as many as 24.
