Tubogas translates literally to “gas pipe” and is the descriptive name given to a type of chain formed from a pair of interlocking gold strips wrapped tightly together. This forms a flexible and hollow tubular necklace with a springiness that requires no soldering. Popular during the 1940s and 1950s, gas pipe or tubogas reflects the innovation necessitated by the scarcity of jewellery materials during World War II. Decades later, the distinctive style endures. This flat braided version adds a cool twist to a classic and essential element. Rendered In beautiful rose gold, it measures 17 inches in length with a triple braided centerpiece, capped by a coil wrap and finished with a single gas pipe strand. A hidden box clasp and safety can be found at the back.
