Estate Originals Antique 18K White and Yellow Gold Rose Cut Diamond Pendant with 14K Yellow Gold Bale and Chain
This exquisite early Victorian period (1837 - 1860) antique pendant is hand fabricated in 18K white and yellow gold. Nine primitively cut rose-cut diamonds, together weighing approximately 0.64 carats, form a glistening, scintillating cluster in white gold atop a fanciful base of yellow gold. This rare and ravishing original Victorian jewel is embellished with a bead and triangle application between stones and milgrain trim. Originally, the piece was designed as a ring. At some point, the shank was removed and a 14K yellow gold bale was added. A 14K yellow gold adjustable 16" - 18" curb link chain with lobster clasp is included.
The rose cut diamond first appeared in the 1500's but its height of popularity was from the 1700 - 1800's. It is a roundish stone with a domed top and flat bottom and had between 3 and 24 facets.
