The Breitling Avenger is a study in superlatives: unparalleled safety and reliability; extreme robustness and shock resistance; maximum functionality; and incredible readability. While the Breitling Avenger was released more recently, its origins remain linked to Breitling’s history with aviation. The slide-rule chronograph is extremely useful for a variety of calculations including those made by pilots and navigators. So, this is a bit of the provenance that the Avenger came with when it was released in 2001. The Breitling M1 Avenger diver chronograph (later re-badged as the Seawolf) is the only chronograph that is both waterproof and operational up to the enormous depth of 1000M.
According to Breitling this unprecedented technical feat has been achieved by the principle of the magnetic push-piece, a Breitling proprietary patented device enabling activation of chronograph controls that precludes any direct contact between the push-piece and the movement. In other words, its controls are operated through the metal of the case. Its excellent ergonomics go well beyond its non-slip, easy-to-handle crown and push pieces and generous dial - despite its exceptional size the case architecture makes it very comfortable on the wrist. The watch possesses Breitling's extremely precise Caliber 73 SuperQuartz movement capable of split-second timing and recording measurements in 1/10 second increments.
Breitling is a Swiss luxury watch brand founded by Léon Breitling in 1884. Léon Breitling was a skilled watchmaker who crafted both timepieces and intelligent measuring tools in his workshop. Breitling is the inventor of the chronograph and winner of many awards for quality and performance so it makes perfect sense that the company has an excellent reputation. Breitling was the first to put the chronograph inside a wristwatch and enable an easy-to-use function inside of the watch. Famous celebrities, such as Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are Breitling owners.
On a whole, Breitling watches hold their value on the resale market, even with age which is why their vintage models remain incredibly popular. It's a combination of provenance, quality and innovative features that makes a Breitling watch so investible and valuable as a collector. Breitling began by creating aircraft cockpit instruments. The brand introduced the first chronograph wristwatch, and subsequently created some of the first pilot watches. From being a pioneer in aviation, Breitling today creates timepieces for land, sea, and air.
