Estate Originals Platinum Art Deco Ring, Set with an Old European Cut Diamond
This Art Deco designed ring was custom crafted in platinum in the 1930's. It it centrally-set with a 0.14 carat old European cut diamond, framed in a double box with pierced fluted shoulders. The elongated oval setting is pierced with an intricate milgrain and bead design at both the top and bottom, revealing a crown-like motif on each side. The band is high polished and reverse tapers. Art Deco jewellery can be identified with geometric and angular patterns and is often set with old European cut diamonds.
Old European cut diamonds are the precursor to today's modern round brilliant cut but is chunkier as they were cut by hand. They have an open culet, a high crown and a small table, and are very sought after by collectors of vintage jewellery.
