Estate Originals Stainless Steel Cartier Tank Française Swiss-Made Wristwatch

This Swiss-made stainless-steel Cartier Tank Française wristwatch features a 20 mm x 24 mm case with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and black colour dial, with painted white radial roman numerals and secret Cartier signature at the 10 o'clock mark. It also has silver-coloured sword-shaped hour and minute hands and runs on a quartz movement, meaning that it takes a battery and does not require winding. There is an octagonal crown set with a blue spinel cabochon, and a stainless-steel bracelet with double deployant clasp.

A variation of the original called the Tank Française watch debuted in 1996—a modern interpretation of the design that launched the line. Cartier's iconic Tank collection came into being in 1917 and, as the saying goes, a legend was born. The first prototype was designed and created by Louis Cartier (1875–1942) and was presented to General Pershing a few years before it became available in the commercial market in 1919. Launched in 1996, as part of the great legacy of Tank watches, the Cartier Tank Française debuted a metal bracelet in perfect harmony with the case. With this brand-new version, Cartier revolutionized a monobloc metal design. Characterized by the flat, sleek appearance with the lugs blending seamlessly into the watch case typical to all Tank watches, the Tank Française is distinguished by its chain-link bracelet—an updating of the original Tank design. This is paired with a rectangular dial that sits at the centre, flowing smoothly into the bracelet's contours and creating an almost military sense of neat aesthetics.
