Estate Originals Unisex 18 Karat JAEGER-LECOULTRE REVERSO Swiss Made Watch

This ultra high quality 18K yellow gold JAEGER-LECOULTRE REVERSO wristwatch is Swiss made with a rectangular shaped white coloured dial, gold Roman numerals at the 12, 3 and 9 o'clock, gold remaining stick hour markers and hands and moon phase dial at the 6 o'clock. It has a quartz movement and is engraved with case #250.1.18. The watch is integrated into an 18K yellow gold 7-row panther style bracelet with a double fold-over clasp. Wear it as a watch or as an elegant gold bracelet using the "reverso" feature that allows the watch face to flips over to be hidden. 

Jaeger-LeCoultre is a Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer founded  by Anotin LeCoultre in 1833.  The Reverso is believed to be the product of several requests from English gentlemen stationed in India in the early 20th century. It's said, that their problem was that their wrist watches were becoming damaged thanks to repetitive strikes from the mallets used to play polo or from tumbling off horseback. They approached representatives of Jaeger-LeCoultre and asked them if they could provide a solution.  Their idea was to create a watch which flipped over to reveal the caseback to the outside world, thereby protecting the fragile crystal.   

The Reverso gained in popularity during the Art Deco movement in the early 1930's, especially with the Moon Phase dial.  The moon face dial represents the precise duration of a lunar month which is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds, or 29.53 days.  This watch is a later version of the classic design with a quartz movement that does not require winding.
