While browsing the merchant stalls, he came across a group of exiled Tibetan women who were selling handmade socks from their native Nepal; he quickly found these to be second to none in terms of not only warmth, but craftsmanship and a fascinating glimpse into proud, old world traditions, too. From there, a two-fold idea struck Field: to bring these wondrous products back to North America and share their remarkable comfort, and more importantly to support these impoverished women and help bring their story to the world. Each Tibetan sock takes the attention and knowledge of four women to complete, such is their dedication to tradition and quality.
