American designer Adrien Field was on a spiritual journey through the far east in 2014. While staying at a guesthouse in Rishikesh, India, he experienced the discomfort of frozen floors during the cold evenings, and set out for the local market the following morning in search of a potential solution. While browsing the merchant stalls, he came across a group of exiled Tibetan women who were selling handmade socks from their native Nepal; he quickly found these to be second to none in terms of not only warmth, but craftsmanship and a fascinating glimpse into proud, old world traditions, too. From there, a two-fold idea struck Field: to bring these wondrous products back to North America and share their remarkable comfort, and more importantly to support these impoverished women and help bring their story to the world.
Each Tibetan sock takes the attention and knowledge of four women to complete, such is their dedication to tradition and quality. You can both see and feel the ancient world in their incomparable design, evocative of scenic mountain paths and quaint rustic villages. These socks are 100% made in the Himalayas and assembled with locally harvested wool and fleece. When purchasing a pair of Tibetan socks, not only are you buying the pinnacle of quality in comfortable footwear, but you're also directly supporting the community that made them, ultimately giving their product an even greater value.
Available in a variety of striking, eye-catching colours, and accompanied with the traditional drawstring bad native to their origins, Tibetan Socks could not be more ideal for the ever changing climate of Canada. Keep your feet warm and support a great cause in the bargain with Tibetan Socks, available to you here at TSC!
