Product Overview

This 2024 $20 fine silver coin adds a chapter to the story of Canada's evolution, marking the 25th anniversary of Canada's newest territory, Nunavut. Established on April 1, 1999, Nunavut is the largest and northernmost territory in Canada, and encompasses one-fifth of our country's total land mass.

The design features an Inuit mother figure surrounded by markings inspired by traditional Inuit tattoos. Nunavut is cradled and sheltered by this ring representing the midnight sun, which in turn allows her to cradle and shelter the people as they dance to Nunavut's heartbeat. Nunavut is the young mother, cradling her children in an amauti. The children feel her beating heart like a thumping drum. It's so joyous that her children can't help but dance. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
