Product Overview

Our fascination with UFOs and unexplained phenomena is featured on this one ounce rectangular 2024 $20 Langenburg Event fine silver coin, which transforms as select elements of the full colour image luminesce with the included black light flashlight. This is the seventh coin in an ongoing annual series, with previous issues selling out quickly and becoming extremely difficult to obtain in the secondary market.

The design by Steve Hepburn presents the artist’s rendition of the well-documented Langenburg Event, which occurred on the morning of September 1, 1974. The incident is presented from the witness’s perspective: seated on his now-stalled swather with his back to the viewer, the farmer looks on as five saucer-shaped objects lift off after hovering above the tall grass. The vapour emitted by these objects, as well as the radioactive material deposited on the circular patterns that formed beneath them, are visible when the blacklight paint technology is activated with the included black light.  The incident was reported to the RCMP at the time, and the event received significant local and international attention.
The obverse features a radial pattern behind the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
