Product Overview

When King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) visited Canada in 1939, it was the first time ever that a reigning British monarch had travelled to North America, and it was a major event in Canada. Two years in the making, the royal tour included a 29-day voyage across Canada and back again by rail, a total of 14,000 kilometres. This $25 one-ounce fine silver coin marks the Royal Visit of 1939 with an ultra-high-relief double-profile portrait of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and highlights Canada's long-standing relationship with the monarchy. The coin is engraved with the word "Canada," the face value "25 dollars" and the date "2014."
