Product Overview
Enhance the elegance of your ensemble when you wear this lovely station necklace from the Grace Kelly – Princess of Monaco Collection!
Grace Kelly grew up in two different worlds: her father, Jack Kelly, was a flamboyant Irish Catholic and her mother Margaret Katherine Majer was a quiet German Lutheran. Her mother converted to Catholicism upon their marriage, but never followed the Catholic faith very much. Both of Grace’s parents were Olympic athletes; John in rowing and Margaret in swimming. John won multiple gold medals,
Margaret won none. It is said that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and this was true in Grace’s case. Margaret’s upbringing made its presence felt more in Grace’s style more than it did for her siblings, not just in the way she dressed, but in her discipline. Unlike Prince Rainier’s upbringing, where he rarely saw his parents, Grace kept the children close and was a strict disciplinarian. In later years she felt she was too strict, especially with her older daughter Caroline.
Grace brought up both girls, but Rainier brought up Albert. From the time he could speak, Albert was in training for the eventual title of Sovereign Prince; prior to that, Albert belonged to Grace. Grace was all about elegance and simplicity in her accessories. Very formal jewellery was worn for state occasions, and simple jewellery for off-hours and daytime wear.
