Product Overview
Fifty years ago, humanity left Earth's exosphere and landed the first men on the moon. History was made. This two-coin set commemorates this outstanding event with a 39-mm coloured one-ounce fine-silver coin representing the earth together with an 11-mm 0.5-gram pure gold coin representing the moon. While the silver coin features North America and the launch site of Apollo 11, the pure gold coin features details of the surface of the moon with Neil Armstrong's famous first footstep.  The coins are dated 2019 and are legal tender in Barbados.

Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that first landed humans on the moon. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin formed the American crew that landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface six hours and 39 minutes later on July 21; Aldrin joined him 19 minutes later. They spent about two and a quarter hours together outside the spacecraft, and they collected 21.5 kg of lunar material to bring back to Earth. Command module pilot Michael Collins flew the command module Columbia alone in lunar orbit while they were on the Moon's surface. Armstrong and Aldrin spent 21 hours 31 minutes on the lunar surface at a site they named Tranquility Base before lifting off to rejoin Columbia in lunar orbit.

Bonus Coin
Also included is an uncirculated United States Eisenhower dollar issued 1971–1978. The design features an adaption of the official Apollo 11 insignia showing an eagle landing on the moon with the earth in the background.
