2020 1/10th Ounce $1 Pure Gold Coin Tribute to Alex Colville: Howling Wolf

To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Royal Canadian Mint has turned Alex Colville's centennial celebration of Canada into a six-part centennial celebration of the artist. This half-dollar coin weighs one-tenth of an ounce of pure gold and is the second coin in the series. The design features a profile view of a howling wolf, symbolic of the vastness of Canada. The design also includes the engraved face value "50 cents," the word "Canada" and the date "2020." The obverse features Canada's second effigy (1965–1989) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin, as it appeared on Colville's original coin designs issued in 1967. Mintage is limited to just 1,200 coins, including both subscriptions and single coins.
