Product Overview
In 1999, the Royal Canadian Mint marked the establishment of Nunavut as Canada's newest separate territory with a special commemorative $2 coin. While substantial quantities of this design were produced for circulation, only a small quantity were struck in proof quality with a 22-karat yellow gold core and a white gold outer ring. The mintage of this coin was limited to 10,000 pieces.

The coin design depicts an Inuit drum dance. An Inuit man is shown absorbed in the dance. The drum bears a map outlining Nunavut. Inside the map is a stone lamp that serves as a source of warmth and provides a sense of security. It also stands as a beacon of hope for Nunavut's future.
