Product Overview
This large five-ounce pure-silver 2016 two-dollar Big Coin features selective colour which brings the familiar polar bear design to life in a way never seen before. This coin and all others in the series sold out within minutes of release from the RCM, with 2016 Big Coins now extremely difficult to obtain in the secondary market. With a mintage of just 1,500 coins for one of Canada's premier-quality annual proof coins, this is an extremely limited issue with demand significantly greater than the quantity produced. As a pure silver coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt.

First introduced in 1996, the design features a majestic image of a Canadian polar bear standing on an ice floe. While a regular two-dollar coin has a diameter of 28 mm and a weight of just 6.92 grams in base metal, this two-dollar coin has a diameter of 65 mm and has a weight of 157.6 grams, or over 5 ounces, in pure silver. This is about equal to the weight of 22 regular two-dollar coins. The coin is double-struck to ensure fine detail and a near-flawless surface, while the design is further enhanced with selective colour.
