2018 $20 Fine Silver Coin Mother Nature's Magnification: Morning Dew

This 2018 $20 one-ounce fine silver coin is the second in the Mother Nature's Magnification series. Using selective colour and a magnified design element, the coin celebrates nature's small wonders as viewed through a perfectly round dewdrop, showcasing the tantalizing beauty of the harvest season.

In the early sunlight, the morning dew has a revitalizing effect on the colours and scents of the fall landscape. This enchanting fine silver coin continues our exploration of small delights found in nature. A round 3D dewdrop that rises from the coin's surface reveals a dewdrop on a crab apple. 

The colours of the harvest season are the focus of this captivating design by Canadian artist Margaret Best. Exquisitely engraved in a proof finish, the scene invites the viewer to step into an orchard on an idyllic fall morning, when early sunlight streams over the horizon and illuminates the rolling landscape. Vibrant colour draws the eye towards the branch of a crab apple tree, where delicate-looking dewdrops cling to the clustered leaves and fruit. The focus is the dominant design element: a perfectly round droplet made of clear resin, which mimics the magnifying effect of a dewdrop for an enhanced view of the diminutive crab apple. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
