It runs on an automatic, self-winding movement #132265 and is water resistant to 100M/330FT. The back of the bezel displays case #8459, 1582398. The watch is attached to a black rubber strap with tire tread detailing and a stainless steel fold-over buckle style clasp, signed Chopard.
As the official timekeeper of the world's most famous regularity race for classic cars, Chopard has created the Mille Miglia Chronograph self-wind stainless steel watch for men. Inspired by the beauty of classic cars, its elegant curves, silver dial inspired by vintage car bodies and the chronometer certified engine evoke the perfect balance between automobile design and mechanical watchmaking. With an emblematic rubber strap evoking 1960's Dunlop tire treads, this bold timepiece adapts flawlessly to the wrist. The 1000 Miglia is a demanding race that requires constant attention and tolerates no imprecision. It is all about transmitting, as well as teaching, sharing and accompanying, in order to help avoid potential pitfalls and lead the car to victory. The qualities required to take part in this rally are well-known and quite logically similar to those of Chopard watchmakers. These are the quintessential watch of true car aficionados, inspired by the classic designs and vintage spirit of cars produced between 1941 and 1957; building a bridge between automotive engineering and mechanical watchmaking by merging precision, comfort and elegance, thus making them the perfect drivers' auxiliary. The Mille Miglia (Italian pronunciation: ['mille 'mi??a], Thousand Miles) was an open-road, motorsport endurance race established in 1927 by the young Counts Francesco Mazzotti and Aymo Maggi, which took place in Italy twenty-four times from 1927 to 1957 (thirteen before World War II, eleven from 1947). In 1957, after two fatal crashes claimed the lives of more than ten drivers and spectators, event organizers eased off the gas. Between 1958 and 1961, the race became a more sedate affair; a grand tour around the northern half of Italy driven at legal speeds. In the 1970s, a group of motor enthusiasts decided the Mille Miglia should be reborn. After prototype events were held, 1982 saw the first true retrospective of the Mille Miglia — except this time it wasn’t a flat-out race. It was a rolling exhibition of some of the world’s most beautiful cars; a celebration of the race that was.
Louis-Ulysse Chopard (1836-1915), the son of a farmer from Sonvilier, quickly conquered Switzerland and the world at the age of 24. The artisan watchmaker created works of art with innovative designs. Qualities like precision and reliability were very sought-after characteristics in watches, dating all the way back to the 19th century. With unique chronometers and pocket watches, Louis-Ulysse Chopard aimed to fulfill and exceed these "desires". Chopard is one of the last family-run watchmaking and Jewellery Companies and has passed from generation to generation while upholding the same exacting standards.
