14-18KT Yellow and White Gold Cameo Pendant with Old European Cut Diamonds

This romantic vintage pendant features an oval shaped shell cameo depicting three ladies that appear to be dancing or embracing, or both. The cameo is set within 4-prongs and is surrounded by a 14kt yellow gold textured open filigree frame. A .24 carat Old European cut diamond, prong-set in 18kt white gold is situated, at the top while three smaller (.07ct) Old European cut diamonds, arranged in pyramid fashion, are located at the bottom. The total diamond weight is .45 carats. A 14kt 18 inch (45cm) rose gold cable link chain with spring ring clasp feeds through a hidden bale, at the back.

An old European cut diamond is a round diamond primarily cut between 1890-1930. They were especially common during the Art Deco period. Old European cut diamonds but were cut for carat weight rather than brilliance. While they may be less sparkly than modern brilliant-cut diamonds, they were cut and polished with candlelight in mind.
