Product Overview
Queen Elizabeth II first appeared on Canadian silver dollars in 1953, and coins bearing her effigy continued to be released in every year through to the final silver issue of 1967. At this time, dollar coins issued for circulation were large and heavy coins containing six-tenths of an ounce of fine silver, and they had a purchasing power of more than 10 times the current value of a dollar. This collection includes high-quality examples of all 15 different dates of the Canadian silver dollar issued for circulation during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, presented in a custom mahogany-finish case.
Highlights of the collection include the coronation year 1953; the low-mintage dates of 1954, 1955 and 1956; the 1958 totem-pole design commemorative issue; the 1964 commemorative issue; and the 1967 centennial coin. The coins range from extremely fine to brilliant uncirculated condition.
