King Charles III Silver and Bronze Coronation Medallion Set
Shipping: $6.99
Mark a moment in history with this two-piece set of King Charles III Coronation medallions struck in one ounce of fine silver and in 22.5 grams of bronze. Engraved by retired Royal Canadian Mint senior engraver Susan Taylor, the obverse features a new effigy of His Majesty wearing the Imperial State Crown together with the King's Royal Cypher. The design has been officially approved by His Majesty King Charles III for Canada, adding to the importance of the set.
The reverse features the May 6, 2023 date of the coronation together with a wreath of six Canadian maple leaves encircling St. Edward's Crown. Each maple leaf represents one of the kings and queens of Canada since Confederation: Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II, and now King Charles III. St. Edward's Crown is the central motif, as it has been used for the formal coronation ceremony of British monarchs for more than 700 years.
The silver medallion has a 39-mm diameter and a proof-like finish, while the bronze medallion has a 27-mm diameter and a brilliant finish. The two medallions are presented side-by-side in a mahogany-finish glass top display case together with certificates of authenticity. Total mintage of the silver medallion is limited to just 3,500 pieces, while the mintage of the bronze medallion is limited to 5,000 pieces. Medals or medallions have been issued for the coronation of every British monarch for more than five centuries, and these attractive collectibles continue the long tradition.
