Product Overview
This 14K white gold Bulova Swiss-made dress watch has a cushion-shaped silver colour dial with metallic and black stick hour markers and hands. It runs on a 17-jewel Swiss-made movement, #100011 with case # E117, 253072. The watch is attached to a 14K white gold tapered tight mesh link bracelet with a 1/20 10K gold filled fold-over clasp and a seven-centimetre safety chain. The lugs are set with four diamonds.
Bulova was founded and incorporated as the J. Bulova Company in 1875 by Bohemian immigrant Joseph Bulova. He began manufacturing watches in Biel (Switzerland) and ultimately opened a small store in New York City that would mark the beginning of his lifelong quest: to craft supreme quality timepieces. With an unwavering drive for perfection, efficiency and precision, quality craftsmanship became the foundation upon which Joseph Bulova built his brand. The brand was reincorporated under the name Bulova Watch Company in 1923 and became part of the Loews Corporation in 1979 and was later sold to Citizen at the end of 2007. Today, Bulova is driven by the same core principles of craftsmanship, innovation and technology that guided its visionary founder over 140 years ago.
Bulova produced the world's first television advertisement, on July 1, 1941 (the first day that commercial advertising was permitted on television), before a baseball game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies over New York station WNBT (now WNBC). The announcement, for which the company paid anywhere from $4 to $9 USD (equivalent to $70 to $158 in 2020), displayed a WNBT test card modified to look like a clock with the hands showing the time. The Bulova logo, with the phrase "Bulova Time," was shown in the lower right-hand quadrant of the test pattern while the second hand swept around the dial for one minute.
