Product Overview
The Birds of Canada coins have been one of the most popular non-precious metal series ever produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, with demand for many of these coins exceeding the mintage and many appreciating in value in the secondary market. This is the first coin in the series issued in 2014, and features the eastern meadowlark. The meadowlark displays its vibrant colours in mid-chant, perched on a fencepost amidst the wildflowers.

About the Eastern Meadowlark
The adult eastern meadowlark measures from 19 cm to 28 cm and spans 35 cm to 40 cm across the wings. Adults have yellow underparts with a black "V" on the breast and white flanks with black streaks. The upper parts are mainly brown with black streaks. They have a long pointed bill and the head is striped with light brown and black. The song of this bird is of pure, melancholy whistles.
