2015 Tuvalu 2 Oz Silver Back To The Future Hoverboard Proof

Thirty years after the box office success of "Back To The Future", the Perth Mint is excited to present the Back to the Future Hoverboard 2015 2oz Silver Coin. "Back To The Future" is an American science fiction comedy trilogy (1985, 1989 and 1990), starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, a high school student who accidentally travels 30 years into the past to 1955, jeopardizing his own future existence. 

The hoverboard (a skateboard without wheels that hovers over the ground) made its debut in the second film of the trilogy. Marty McFly travels to his future in 2015 and hovers through the air when chased by teen rogue Griff Tannen and his gang. 

The coin is struck from 2oz of 99.9% pure silver. The reverse of the coin features an image of Marty McFly’s hoverboard as it appeared in Back to the Future II. The inscription "Hoverboard" also appears in the design. Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, there is also an Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is presented in a plastic capsule, and appears to be suspended and hovering within the case.
