Namal Muskan founded Hug Me Home in her second year of university, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She went from being a student who was continuously changing her major (ultimately landing on psychology) to someone who found a passion for creating innovative home goods.
Hug Me Home began when Muskan was working with her father (who was in the bedding business), and she had the idea to transform sheets into pyjamas, as a way of being in bed away from bed. After that, she wanted to design something different in the world of loungewear since many people were embracing it at the time, so she introduced new fabrics including bamboo, linen, and bamboo linen. Muskan then designed a different kind of weighted blanket, coming up with a machine-washable version disguised as a faux fur throw. Here she paid attention to durability and to small details such as securing hypoallergenic glass beads in small square pockets. She also introduced an entire silk line featuring heatless silk curling ribbons, pillowcases and scrunchies.
Her psychology degree came in handy when designing products intended to boost confidence and self-esteem, which is why Hug Me Home is all about comfort and self-care—her products feel like a hug!
